Hidden Gem: Proclaim Coconut & Macadamia Nut Oil Hand & Body Lotion from Sally Beauty

Proclaim Coconut & Macadamia Nut Oil Hand & Body Lotion
(retail: $1.69 at Sally Beauty, 3.0 oz)

As is probably the case for most of us when it comes to retailers we frequent quite a bit, I've developed a friendship with the guys and gals who work at my local Sally Beauty Supply stores. And if it weren't for one particular employee who recommended this hand cream to me about a year ago, I probably would have never known that it existed. But I do, and now it's my duty--yes, duty--to share it with you, in case you're in the market for a new, and very affordable, hand cream.

This hand cream is available both online and in-store at Sally Beauty and it retails for $1.69 ($1.49 if you're a Sally Club member).

Looking at the ingredients, I know that some of you tend to avoid products that contain mineral oil, etc. And if you do, then this product is obviously not for you. But if you're OK with these ingredients, then by all means keep reading for more info about why I love this hand cream!

First let me tell you that I'm certainly not the only one who loves this product. You can read the reviews on the Sally site here, and there's also a five-star review over on Makeup Alley here. Also, I posted a pic of this hand cream over on Instagram last year and I received dozens of comments from readers who also raved about it. I sort of felt like, "Where the heck have I been?" when I noticed that others love this too--I was late to discovering it because it's not located where the other hand creams are at my Sally stores. It's located where all of the other Proclaim products are, which is in the haircare aisle. So I never saw it until an employee recommended it to me.

So here's why I personally love it. First, the fragrance. It's sweet and coconutty, but there's a warm nutty note too that makes it just scrumptious. If you generally like foody scents, I think you'll love this, but even if you're not drawn to foody-type scents, I think you might enjoy the tropical feel of this fragrance--the nutty note keeps it from venturing too far into the "suntan lotion" realm, and overall it's just a soft, sweet, very pleasant fragrance.

Second, the texture. This is a thick lotion (see pics above) but it absorbs so quickly, leaving behind a soft, protective coating that is not greasy, sticky or oily. If you work in a field where you don't have much time to apply your hand lotion and wait for it to sink it, this will be perfect for you.

Third, I love that I can apply this and for several hour afterward, even after a few hand-washings, it still manages to keep my hands soft and moisturzied. Honestly, it's one of the longest-lasting hand creams I've ever owned. I really appreciate that since, during the wintertime, it feels like I'm constantly washing my hands and/or applying anti-bac and my hands get so very dry. This hand cream manages to keep my hands soft through cold weather and lots of abuse.

FINAL VERDICT: For under $2, this is truly a hidden gem at Sally Beauty. I've been reaching for this hand cream every day during these cold winter months because it lasts through multiple hand-washings and lots of abuse. Plus, I love that it absorbs so quickly, doesn't leave any greasy or sticky residue behind, and it smells absolutely heavenly.
